Electrification is taking off: there are more EVs to choose from; platform concepts are becoming more important, and competition among e-drives is lively. The first e-trucks are arriving on the US market – and the jury is still out on how long ICEs have left to live. And which energy forms are reliably available in the future? At this year‘s CTI Symposium Novi, 18 – 19 May 2022, these were just some of the topics up for discussion.
For the second time running, this year‘s 15th CTI Symposium USA took place digitally due to Covid-19. But as chair Dr Hamid Vahabzadeh said when greeting participants, this has also changed the work of engineers in the automotive industry. This year there was even stronger emphasis on the two panel discussions. Their topics were complementary: ‘The Battle between BEV and Hybrid’ and ‘Will 100 percent BEV be a reality in future?’ Read more in our summary.

Like its predecessor, this year’s 15th CTI Symposium USA used a digital format. This did nothing to detract from the lively discussions on how best to continue the process of electrification. Besides two expert discussions, covered in an own article, and eight technical sessions, nine plenary speeches showed what’s moving the industry. Read more in our summary.

In May 2019 around 650 participants from 17 countries came to Novi to join the 13th edition of the CTI SYMPOSIUM. This event is among the biggest worldwide to bring together managers an experts from the automotive, supplying and high-tech industries. This expert meeting focussed the specifics of drivetrain electrification for the North American market, especially looked at truck electrification, and what customers expect from powertrains.
